Assignment 9 : Student Database

Assalamualaikum everyone, Happy Friday and weekend is just around the corner, so as the final exam too that  will start on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday.


Alhamdulillah last night I managed to complete the last assignment which is Assignment 9 (Student Database) by using the Open Office Software. So, together with the help of Mr. Tengku NorAzlan and my fello classmates, I managed to complete it. Well, new thing to learn it may take sometime and as usual, this is my first time doing a student database.


In the database with create table and forms and fill in the table with 4 components which are the student's profile, parents, curriculum and co-curriculum.






These are the print-screen I made while completing the task and this is a new thing for me. Another beneficial knowledge to have for my future life as a teacher.


So I think that's all for now. Insya-Allah, I'll update new entry that is related to this curriculum next time. Till then, assalamualaikum. 

Assignment 8a (Personal Financial Management) & 8b (Students score and grade analysis)

Assalamualaikum w.b.t and Salam Ramadhan everyone


Today during our class session we did used all the time allocated to finish all the assignments starting from the Spreadsheet Assignment 8 (A & B) until Assignment 9. So, me and my classmate spent 4 hours in the computer lab with our laptop tried to finish it all by the end of the class.


Me and my partner who are still working on our Movie Maker also try our best to complete the tasks at the same time. Its like killing two birds with one stone and thanks to the our lecturer, Sir Tengku Norazlan for the explanation on how to do the Students' spreadsheet and also the financial management too by using Microsoft Excel and Calcs Open Office Software. 


While doing the personal financial using Calcs open office software which is a new thing for me, I find it is quite similar to the Microsoft Excel with all the tables and button's function. Alhamdulillah, thanks to Sir Azlan and friends for helping and guiding me to complete the task as soon as possible. Next, the assignment b which is Students' score spreadsheet by using the Microsoft Excel, I get to learn new things today. Before this I just know how to use the Excel superficially but now I know that there are so many things that can be done such as the standard deviation, average, graph, sort and filter and many more.

Assignement 7 : 7a (Open Office Impress) & 7b (Windows Movie Maker)

Assalamualaikum and Salam Ramadhan everyone. Hoping you all in pink of health and always in His blessing in this Ramadhan al-mubarak.

At this period, me and my partner were working on the Assignment 7 a & b together and we are trying hard to keep up with others. *really sorry for this inconvenient but we did our best and I hope that everything will be just fine.

So, this task we were asked to do the presentation using the Open Office Impress and also Microsoft Powerpoint. Besides that, we were also need to use and explore the Movie Maker software. 

In the Assignment 7a, we need to do a presentation based on our mini reasearch project using the Open Office Software. Honestly, it is not asy for me to deal with the Open Office software because I am not familiar with it and I fing it is hard to use this software but by hook or by crook I need to finish it or else. I spent a lot of time just to finish all the slides. Alhamdullilah, we still in progress.

For the assigment 7b, we alsme need to do a presentation but using the Microsoft Powerpoint but we have to include several multimedia elements.The courseware should include all multimedia elements: video (edit in Windows Movie Maker); a layered graphic/image (edit in GIMP); (custom animation; edit in GIMP) & audio (record and edit using Audacity. Alhamdulillah and thanks to my friends for teaching me on how to look for the Movie Maker download as it is not in my lappy and teach me how to use it. The same thing goes to Audacity because I've never heard of it and it takes me for a while to figure out all the button and its function.


The main thing is we still working on the Assignment 7b (Movie Maker) while the impress is already completed.

Week 5 :: Assigment 6 ::

Assalamualaikum w.b.t and Salam Ramadhan
This would be a hard week for me because the final exam is just around the corner and I have to organise my schdule that flooded with all the assignments, mini teaching others chores and last but not least is doing my revision for the up coming exam. If I'm not mistaken, CIE paper will be on 24th of August 2011.

This time we were assigned to create a brochure (Assignment 6a) and a booklet (Assignment 6b).Alhamdulillah , this week’s task was not that difficult for me and I managed to finish it in just one day. Thanks to my partner also Firdaus for all the help and collaboration in completing this assignment.

For the task given, we need to create a broschure that includes assignment 1, 4 and 5 by using the Microsoft Publisher. Thank Allah as I am familiar with the use of this software, it is not a big deal for me to finish this task in just one day. The only thing that me and my partner had to deal was  the content that needed to be organise in the broschure. Basically the things that I put into the broschure is what my partner and I had done during the facebook discussion, literature review and the questionare which is on "Thinking Skill & ICT".

The same thing goes to Assigment 6b in which we need to do a bookfold using the Microsoft Word. Honestly, I never do a bookfold and this is my first time. Credit to my classmates and to my lecture for all the guidance they give me to finish the bookfold. It's not that difficult but a new thing for me to learn. The content for bookfold kinda same with the broschure.

Forget to mention before these tasks we were asked to do a journal based on our mini research and it took us a long time to finish it as my partner and I had to think critically when put up all the sentences and putting everything together until the task is complete.

Week 4: SSPS

Assalamualaikum everyone and salam Ramadhan.

Sorry again for the late update in my blog (still try to keep up with the pace). Last week, my team already came out with a survey on Thinking Skill and ICT : First Class Facilities Third Class Mentality in our Malaysia context and we provided 10 question to collect the data about our research. 

From the 10 question:
2 general question (Gender & Race)
4 question on their mentality
4 question on the Malaysia facilities

So, we dictributed the survey through the Gmail, so that we could collect the data in the end.  Before that, we had to conduct surveys using two different platforms; surveymonkey and googledocs. but for this data analysis, we were told to only use the data from google doc, as the survey by surveymonkey will only be used as a pilot test. After everyone answered the survey, we put all the result into the SSPS to create demography and item/question in variety format - multiple choice. Checkboxes and scale.

SurveyMonkey and Google doc (spreadsheed & Form) can be used to record and analysis the data, but for simple survey. In the future used, students need to learn a computer aided quantitative data analysis such as SPPS

p/s: Actually, it is hard to explain everyhting by words here but i hope you get what I meant. Next time, I'll try to printscreen hehehe..

Week 3b (Online Questionnaire)

Salam Ramadhan everyone, hoping that all of you in pink of health. Sorry for the late update as I'm still trying to cope with the pace, kinda slow I think. 

This time, my partner (Firdaus) and I did our survey (Online Questionnaire) based on the Thinking Skills and ICT : First Class Facilities, Third Class Mentality in Malaysia context. So, we prepared 10 general questions to measure the mentality of our Malaysian and their perception to the ICT's facilities.

In order to do that, we are required to~

Create a questionnaire (Pilot test), and....
1. Register – free sign-up at 
http://www.surveymonkey.com/
2. Add questions (use multiple choise – one answer only)
3. Collect and analysis data online (pilot test – give the link to our coursemates)
4. Ask our classmate to comment or each question/item.

After that, Create Questionnaire using Google Document 
1. Use gmail account 
2. Open
 https://docs.google.com/ or click on documents
3. Create New → Form 
4. Add demography and item/question in variety format – multiple choice, Checkboxes and scale 
5. Explore the use of function Save, open, edit form 
6. Ask several coursemates to test the online questionnaire. 
7. Explore the use of Spreadsheet for this online questionnaire and Download as Excel format (xls) ( this file will be imported in SPSS) 
8. Correct the questions based on the feedback 
9. Ask the students from IPG KS (Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Sarawak) to answer the survey. 
The questionnaire in google docs can be printed and distribute it to any students in your campus (each pair gets at least 10 respondents).

Week 3A : Literature review and online material

Assalamualaikum and a very good day to everyone. Sorry for the late update for this week 3A as we were asked to do a review on out last topic and get all the material from the online website. So, me and my partner Mohamad Firdaus Bin Jaafar had our discussion on the Thinking Skill and ICT and we came out with a topic "1st class facilities and 3rd class mentality" in Malaysia context. As we discussed earlier about how does the ICT affect our thinking skill, so we think that this topic is something that always being talked about over and over again. As our government have provided the world class facilities especially in the ICT such as MSC but the mentality of our Malaysian is not (3rd class mentality)

In the review, we discussed about the problem faced by our country and what are the solution need to be done to overcome it. As we are moving on towards realizing the Vision 2020 and to produce future generation just like what the NPE stated before.
